On January 5, 2019, Macao Post issued a set of five Lunar New Year stamps for the Year of the Pig (Yi Hai). The face values are 2, 2, 3, 3, and 5.5 Macanese patacas. The stamps were designed by Lin Zi'en, with the core design concept based on the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, conveying a sense of prosperity and festivity.
Stamp 5-1 (Metal) depicts a golden pig bringing wealth.
Stamp 5-2 (Wood) features a pig-shaped relief with wood grain textures, symbolizing vitality and enduring good fortune.
Stamp 5-3 (Water) uses ink painting techniques to depict a pig, representing abundant wealth and safety.
Stamp 5-4 (Fire) shows a pig with flames and warm light patterns, suggesting a lively, prosperous, and successful year.
Stamp 5-5 (Earth) presents a pig-shaped purple clay teapot and a jadeite teapot. Both purple clay (earth) and jadeite (jade/stone) belong to the earth element, and the Chinese word for "teapot" (zhu) sounds similar to "pig" (zhu).
The first-day cover is a light-colored official envelope, affixed with the full set of stamps and canceled with a first-day commemorative postmark. It was sent by airmail to Mainland China.
